Correct sound levels for live and pre-recorded items
Set your mixer levels for microphones to the correct levels for recording and sending. Adjust your Digas pre-recorded audio items to match each other and the sending level for your show.
-12db to -6db is the ideal range
Microphone level adjustment
- The channel fader can be used to decrease or increase the sound levels for the microphone.
- The Digital Gain knob can be used to fine tune the levels, or boost them if the fader does not have enough range to get the job done.
- Speak to the tip of the microphone, distance between 15 - 30 cms. Put your fist between your mouth and the microphone, this is an ideal distance. Our studio microphones are excellent, but you need be close to them.
- Correct levels are easy to get, if you close to the mic and speak normally!
Adjust pre-recorded Digas audio items
Digas audio items need the same level range for sending (-12db to -6db)
There are XX methods to achieve this
- DBM to Multiplayer
This is the preferred method. The original is used to create an adjusted copy and will always be correct when chosen from the DBM for future use. Delete then original when completed.
Open the audio item from DBM by dragging it to the Multitrack icon on the toolbar / right click the item select > Entry to Multitrack editor.
Check the "ear" icon on the item in the clipboard. If it is green, no need to change anything, it can be used as is.
If it is orange or red, it requires adjustment. Orange can normally be corrected automatically, Red usually requires manual correction.
Right click the "ear" icon > Loudness normalisation to clip
A new item will appear in the clipboard with a green ear icon. It is ready for saving.
Drag it to the top timeline of Multitrack.
Click Save Take (the Disk icon) and name it clearly.
After it has saved, test it. If it works as intended, you can DELETE the original from DBM and keep the new copy.
The audio item can now be added to sendinger, playlists, jingle carts safely.
- Direct via DigAIRange playlist to Multiplayer to DigAIRange
This is an "on the fly" method that is used when shows are about to go live
Open your Preproduction show playlist in either top or bottom screen
Right click on the audio item to be checked and adjusted
Select Entry to Multitrack editor
If the "ear" icon is yellow, right click on it > Loudness normalisation to clip
A new clip with a green icon will appear in the clipboard. It has been adjusted automatically
Drag it to the Mutitrack timeline
Save Take
