Recording using mobile phone

Mobile phone as a journalism recording tool (BBC)

Most modern mobile phones are good enough for audio recording of interviews and many in the branch have switched to this method already.

Do not use your phones "built in" sound recording apps, things have moved on since the BBC video was made. (f.eks. *Apple Talememoer / Voice Memos should never be used) They create extra work involving converting formats for the Digas editing and storage system before they can be used. Use a purpose built recording app.

The best two recording apps are Røde Reporter or Voice Record Pro.
Both are gratis and available from Google Play and the App Store (links under).

They each offer excellent recording functions and are easily set up to record in WAV format. Choose the one that find best for you. (Røde Reporter is clean, basic and our preferred choice, Voice Record Pro a little more detailed if you prefer to fine tune things.)
